Video: Beware of Job Scams
Finding a job is tough and it can be tempting to overlook the red flags of a job scam when you need the money. But no matter how promising an employment ad sounds, you should never pay money to get a job or to get a list of available jobs. Here are some important things to remember when you're job hunting:
- Real companies don't make promises about jobs.
- You should not have to pay any money to get a job (not even for certification or training materials).
- If you have been scammed, make a complaint at www.ftc.gov/complaint.
- You should not pay for lists of jobs. You can find lists of available jobs for free in the classifieds or online.
