Fair Housing

Where can I find information about the fair housing (anti-discrimination) laws of Connecticut?

The Office of Protection and Advocacy has a self-help publication describing the protections provided to individuals with disabilities in the sale or rental of certain dwellings, describing reasonable modifications, listing legal resources and more.

Also, view the HUD Fair Housing Laws page in English and Spanish with links to specific federal Fair Housing statutes, executive orders, a formal complaint form. There is also a page specifically for senior citizens.

Finally, Legal Services has a brochure in English called "What You Should Know about Housing Discrimination" and a Spanish version.

What do I do if I feel that I am a victim of housing discrimination?

Visit the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) web site to obtain information about filing a housing discrimination complaint.
